Why?

Why not?!  For most of us this is the prime of our lives.  It's a great time to celebrate yourself in a way that is classy and beautiful.  Don't be worried if you've got a few trouble spots - we're great at providing poses that work for everyone - and no matter what your size everyone is beautiful.

What to Expect?

Expect to pamper yourself with complimentary hair and make-up, as well as mimosa's, champagne, fruit and of course some kick-ass music to get your started and keep you going.  There will also be examples of previous sessions and some poses that might help you decide the feel that you are wanting for your session.  Expect to spend a few hours with us - the time that you are scheduled in will be when you are required to be there for hair and makeup and once done you'll be ready for your session!

Nervous?

If you are concerned with being a little too exposed, speak up!  We want you to be comfortable.  We can do photographs that 'hint' at skin exposure.... open button shirts with a cute pair of boy shorts, a white sheet, or do something a little more daring - wearing your favorite lingerie, covering as little or as much as you want.

Wow. That's pretty much all I can say about the amount of people that took the time to vote for their favourite couple in the Flaunt Your Rock Contest.  The time has come though to announce the winner of the free engagement session!  Before we get to that though I would like to thank all those that entered the contest, especially the three finalists - and would like to extend a $100.00 credit to the two runner up couples for an engagement session booked in next 2 months.

So without further delay the winners of the Flaunt Your Rock Contest are Cat and Colin!  Congratulations and I am looking forward to working with you on your engagement session!  Here's the shots of them that helped them win the contest!

XOXO

Well I just couldn't wait to post the images from yesterday that I was up for a good part of the night creating a slideshow!  Before I post it I am going to fill you in on just what the title of this blog post means!

Everyone that knows me knows I am a Nikon Girl.  I've shot with Nikon for the last few years and have had a lot of great success with it.  I mean, its gotten me where I am today, so how can I not give it some of the credit.  Lately though I've been noticing a change in my thinking.  I've always been attracted to a certain few photographers - and the more that I stalk, umm I mean read, their blogs I've noticed they've all got a certain style of photos that really attracts me to their work.  Funny to find out that they all shoot Canon.  Figures.  So instead of doing the "Leslie" thing to do and go out and buy a new camera and lens without even testing it out - it was suggested that I rent a body and a few lenses and check out if a Canon was really for me.  So that's what I do - I rented a Canon Mark 2 and an 50 1.2 and a 85 1.2.  I couldn't wait for it to arrive and it did Thursday night.   I'll admit at first it was really intimidating - the dials and controls are really different - but the smaller body felt really good in my hands.  It didn't take long for me to figure out where the main buttons were to get me going.

The first thing I did was check out the video features.  I am by no means a videographer - nor do I want to be - but I love the spark that clips of video can bring to a slideshow - and boy is this video amazing!  Its so true to life its scary - must be the HD - but still I instantly chalked a mark on the board for the Canon.  I've still got a looong way to go before I can say I'm at least decent at video - but its definitely going to be a fun venture.

The next thing to do was to check out the main purpose of the camera and that was shooting stills.  I was a little wary about it - because I've been told that although Canon is a great hybrid camera - Nikon was still miles ahead in the stills department.  They've got amazing low light - and great autofocusing something that the Mark 2 is still lacking.  However I wanted to be unbiased - and since i normally shoot in natural light I figured I'd get out and shoot.  I found a great couple and we went to work.  The first thing I noticed is that even after the first image - I really liked what I seen at the back of the camera.  THIS was the look I was going for.  It might not be for everyone - but I am more convinced with every frame that I might be falling in love for the second time.  *fingers crossed* that a new Mark 3 comes out this fall - but in the mean time I'm going to keep shooting to see if I am going to make the plunge to The Dark Side .... or The Light Side - I'm not sure which one Canon is referred to!

So all my babbling out of the way - Here is the slideshow from Jasmine and Brad's session yesterday!  They were great to work with - and I'm happy to say Jasmine is my husband's cousin and such a sweetheart!  I hope everyone enjoys it and I would love to hear your feedback below on how you think my first venture out with a Canon turned out.

XOXO
