I've been meaning to post a bit about how I got into photography. And altough I really don't have a lot of spare time right now I wanted to get at least 1 post of many to come out before I started everything else. I recently had a friend ask how I got a picture to look like mine on my blog do. To be honest I wouldn't be anywhere close to where i am without the help of two very special people - Dave and Quin from DQ Studios. Not only did they help me fuel my passion for photography they were also generous enough to let me in on a little secret of theirs. The DQ Quikkeys. Not only has this changed the way that I work in photoshop its allowed me to set higher expectations than I ever imagined this early in my photography career. I highly recommend this to any photographer, seasoned or a newbie like me. Not only are they amazing "inventors" they are also two of the most passionate, caring people you will ever meet. Thank you again guys - without you I'd still be lost.

When I found out I had to go to Newfoundland to see my Nan I really wanted to do a session with my brother and his fiance in the province that my mom and dad grew up in. For those of you that haven't been to Newfoundland you need to go - its absolutly beautiful there. It also gave me the oppertunity to get together with another amazing photographer, Charla who was willing to spend some time with me showing me the ropes. I learnt so much from her and I am so excited to get back to shooting here in Fort McMurray and providing some great images for my clients. And a quick plug to anyone that follows my blog from Newfoundland be sure to check her out - you'll be blown away!
Now back to Chris and Jenn. LOL. Because the weather back east is so unpredictable it was hard for us to schedule an outdoor session. We ended up at a beautiful museum (The Rooms) and it was a great chance for me to practice my indoor photography without flash. As you can see they are quickly becoming comfortable in front of the camera - and will have no trouble at their real engagement session next week in Calgary!

Even after a long flight back from Newfoundland (stay tuned for more about this) I was still looking forward to this session with the Nicholson Family. I had to postpone their session once already but it didnt seem to matter. We had a great time hanging out in their beautiful house and even more fun outside in the snow! Reid is a very happy baby and you can tell he is very loved by both of his parents. Natasha even showed off her composing skills - showing us just how much Reid loves his momma's songs! I had a great time with you 3 today and I can't wait for you to see the rest of your images!
