Wow! It has been a while since I blogged something! After posting my last two sessions before the New Year, I wanted to take some time to let all my loyal blog followers know a little bit of what is going on in my life lately. It has been B-U-S-Y but I am not complaining - I have a lot of things to be thankful for this holiday season.
First and foremost is my family. Its been a really busy year for us - my brother married his amazing wife Jenn, my dad retired after over 25 years to his home in Newfoundland, and I spent an amazing month exploring Europe with my husband Troy.
Second on the list, was having the opportunity to capture images of so many amazing clients! Photography is my biggest passion - and without all these people having so much trust in me it would not be possible for me to have come so far in such a short amount of time. Although I am cutting back on some of my sessions in the New Year, I am super excited for what 2010 is going to bring. I may be taking a month off in January - but February is going to be full speed ahead. With a Boudoir Marathon planned (check back for details!), several engagement sessions booked, and prepping for some tradeshows and conferences, I cannot wait to get started.
Third on the list (still to do with my photography), was meeting so many amazing photographers. I may not have had the chance to meet a lot of them in person, but the internet has been my best friend over the last year. I was able to network with so many people that inspire me so much. I cannot wait to get a chance to meet them in person in the next few years. First on the list is a workshop with the legendary Jerry Ghionis from Australia. I have been looking forward to attending one of his workshops since being introduced to his work a few years ago. I know this will totally rock my photography and I cannot wait to share it with all of my upcoming brides.
Before I go, I wanted to let everyone know that I have got my first ad out in Wedding Bells Magazine! It was totally a last minute decision but I am super excited about it! One of my personal goals for 2010 to is to submit a full wedding feature for the Spring/Summer 2011 edition of Wedding Bells. Also be sure to check out Hot Pink Brides and Wedding Obsession, two amazing blogs that I have been featured on lately!
I am also quickly booking up on the wedding front, which I am super excited about. Currently all of my weddings are out of town and I would love the chance to shoot some weddings right here in Fort McMurray! Which brings me to my latest promotion.

(10.29.09 @ 02:43 PM)Well its hard to believe that only a year ago I had only a handful of sessions booked from September to December. Things sure have changed - to date I've got over 30 shoots scheduled for September and October! I am super excited for these sessions - but because of the volume I am not going to be taking any more bookings for September and October. I never thought I'd be able to say that so soon after getting my feet wet I'd be fully booked! Lifestyle Sessions
Although I am not currently taking bookings for November and December yet - I wanted to try something different this year with Christmas coming up. I know everyone loves to send photos in their Christmas cards, and to even have custom photo cards made - so I've decided to do two days of mini sessions. What's a mini session? Mini Sessions include: 15-minute mini session with Leslie Brown These sessions will be held on November 1st and November 8th from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm with sessions being booked every half hour and the location to be announced at booking. Because these sessions are geared for Christmas I thought it was only appropriate to have a little before Christmas sale - if booked before September 31 the mini session will be $200.00 - a savings of $100 off my normal booking fee and $150 off the individual digital files cost. These are great sessions when you need just a few photos for Christmas Cards, Engagement Notifications, Save the Dates, Wedding Invitations, and Birth Announcements. Please note that the session will be outside - so please dress accordingly. If your interested in booking a spot, or getting more information, please email me at info@lesliebrownphotography.ca <mailto:info@lesliebrownphotography.ca> Wedding Coverage

2 Digital Files with printing rights
Seeing how I am just starting to get inquiries coming in for 2010 weddings I'd also like to put a little special on them as well. If booked for 2010 by November 30th all wedding coverage will include the digital files as a gift from me. This is a $1500 value - and is normally only available 6 months after your wedding. I've also got some great incentives for destination weddings so please contact me if you're interested in having a wedding outside of the province! Well that's it for now - I hope everyone is enjoying the last few weeks of summer we have left - and I look forward to working with you all in the future! XOXO
...Since then Jenn's been with our family through a lot. She travelled with us to Newfoundland to visit our family in both good times and bad, she's moved up to Fort McMurray to give both of them a good head start in their life together, and through all of that she has become my closest friend. Many of you probably find that surprising as I had a tendency to try to sabotage all of Chris's previous relationships. None of the others ever felt good enough, they were all either too tall, too small, or as the rumour goes had a lazy eye and a peg for a leg. But Jenn is different - she encompasses everything that is perfect for my brother - she is beautiful, smart, compassionate, and most of all she loves my brother with every ounce of her heart. She is someone that I wish my mom had the chance to meet - because I know she would have loved her as much as we do.
My brother will certainly take care of Jenn; his caring nature will undoubtedly show in their relationship. I cannot stress enough how many times this quality has applied in our childhood. He has been my brother and most importantly my friend. I must say Jen is among the luckiest women in the world.
Jenn: Please take care of my brother in the way that I know only you can.
In marriage the "little" things are the big things.
It is never being too old to hold hands.
It is remembering to say, "I love you" at least once a day.
It is never going to sleep angry.
It is having a mutual sense of values, and common objectives.
It is standing together and facing the world.
It is forming a circle that gathers in the whole family.
It is speaking words of appreciation, and demonstrating gratitude in thoughtful ways.
It is having the capacity to forgive and forget.
It is giving each other an atmosphere in which each can grow.
It is a common search for the good and the beautiful.
It is not only marrying the right person -- it is being the right partner.
And the most important of all - always share your dessert with him - even when you don't want to!
Thank you for coming into our lives and changing us for the better - Today I don't just gain a sister in law - I truly believe I am gaining a sister.
...Christopher: Know that today mom has been with you every step of the way - and that she is so proud of you. You were always her baby boy - and today you stand here the man she always knew you would become. Words cannot express how honored and proud I am to be standing up here as your sister today. You have been there for me through our darkest times - and it is because of you that we weathered through them. All of my best childhood memories involve you. You will never know how important you are to me.
XOXO
These pictures are absolutely beautiful Leslie. Your speech was so heartfelt. Congrats to your brother and Jenn.
Leslie, you are truly a gifted photographer. I have enjoyed watching as your images have progressed into pieces of art and can't wait to see, how much more you are going to achieve as you follow your dream. Your speech was beautiful. Congrats to Chris and your family!
Mel
