Wow!   It has been a while since I blogged something!  After posting my last two sessions before the New Year,  I wanted to take some time to let all my loyal blog followers know a little bit of what is going on in my life lately.  It has been B-U-S-Y but I am not complaining - I have a lot of things to be thankful for this holiday season.

First and foremost is my family.  Its been a really busy year for us - my brother married his amazing wife Jenn, my dad retired after over 25 years to his home in Newfoundland, and I spent an amazing month exploring Europe with my husband Troy.

Second on the list, was having the opportunity to capture images of so many amazing clients!   Photography is my biggest passion - and without all these people having so much trust in me it would not be possible for me to have come so far in such a short amount of time.  Although I am cutting back on some of my sessions in the New Year,  I am super excited for what 2010 is going to bring.  I may be taking a month off in January -  but February is going to be full speed ahead.  With a Boudoir Marathon planned (check back for details!), several engagement sessions booked, and prepping for some tradeshows and conferences, I cannot wait to get started.

Third on the list (still to do with my photography), was meeting so many amazing photographers.  I may not have had the chance to meet a lot of them in person, but the internet has been my best friend over the last year.  I was able to network with so many people that inspire me so much.  I cannot wait to get a chance to meet them in person in the next few years.  First on the list is a workshop with the legendary Jerry Ghionis from Australia.  I have been looking forward to attending one of his workshops since being introduced to his work a few years ago.  I know this will totally rock my photography and I cannot wait to share it with all of my upcoming brides.

Before I go, I wanted to let everyone know that I have got my first ad out in Wedding Bells Magazine!  It was totally a last minute decision but I am super excited about it!  One of my personal goals for 2010 to is to submit a full wedding feature for the Spring/Summer 2011 edition of Wedding Bells.  Also be sure to check out Hot Pink Brides and Wedding Obsession, two amazing blogs that I  have been featured on lately!

I am also quickly booking up on the wedding front, which I am super excited about.  Currently all of my weddings are out of town and I would love the chance to shoot some weddings right here in Fort McMurray!  Which brings me to my latest promotion.

Little Miss Iyla was so excited for her photos she just did not want to go to sleep!  :)  Even still I had a great time hanging out with Victoria, Travis and their new bundle of joy.  I'm not sure what it is with me and newborns with bright blue eyes lately - but they all seem to glisten!

Baby Briya couldn't wait to come!  Her Mama was another one of my maternity / newborn clients that had her little girl early!  Only 3 days after we finished the maternity session!  She was great!  Not a peep out of her for the entire session!

I finally got to get together with the Tarrant family on Thanksgiving for some Lifestyle session photos.  I had such a blast playing with their kids at their house and then heading to Birchwood Trails to finish of the afternoon!

So I am such a bad blogger lately!  I have a bunch of sessions from a few weeks back that I need to get blogged - so be prepared!  First up is a lifestyle session with the Liptaks!  We met in Medicine Hat when I was there shooting a wedding and we had a great time hanging out with the five of them.  They are a family full of energy and spunk and I can't wait to get some more images up!

When Jordan's dad asked if I would take some pictures of his daughter I was super excited.  Jordan is an amazing swimmer and such a beautiful girl.  She was great to work with - we had such a fun time hanging out on the trails and checking out a few schools.  Can't wait to get to the rest of your images Jordan!

So I know this post has very little to do with Merlin the dog - but this dog deserves the title post.  When you see his photo you'll understand!  When Carol contacted me for photos I was super excited - but also a little intimidated - there were 2 adults, 3 kids, and 2 1/2 dogs (there I go with Merlin again!)  The results couldn't have been better - and it was so hard to narrow down to these images for the teaser!

XOXO

and last but not least - the inspiration for the title of this post ... Merlin

I met up with Tara and Darcy this weekend along with two of the cutest little girls ever - Lillian and Kourtney!  Tara was looking for a real Fort McMurray feel - so we started out downtown by the old boat launch.  I hadn't be down there in forever and although the scenery around it has changed quite a bit it still feels the same.  We then headed to a nearby park so the girls could have some fun!  I had a great time with you guys and can't wait for you to see the rest of your images!

This is a very special session to me as its my best friend's little boy.  Isn't he gorgeous!  He couldn't wait to meet his parents so he came just a little early!  Its amazing to see the love that parent have for their children - and I can't be more proud of Rob and Chantelle.  This little guy will be a heartbreaker for sure - and I can't wait to document him as he grows up to a little man!

You may remember Janine and Robbie from their maternity session a few weeks back.  Little Elsa did not want to come a day early - even with my record of putting women into early labour! She was well worth the wait though.  Such a beautiful little girl that is going to be loved so much by her parents as they make their new life in Saskatoon!  We're definitely going to miss you guys - and make sure to post lots of photos of her as she grows!

You may remember Nicole and Jayson from their maternity session back in July.  They finally welcomed little Kenzie to the world a little over a week ago and I was really looking forward to getting out and shooting her.  She is going to have extremely strong legs - lol she didn't want to scrunch at all.  We finally got outside for some great photos of the 3 of them.  Enjoy guys and I'll be talking to you soon!

Well its hard to believe that only a year ago I had only a handful of sessions booked from September to December.  Things sure have changed - to date I've got over 30 shoots scheduled for September and October!  I am super excited for these sessions - but because of the volume I am not going to be taking any more bookings for September and October.  I never thought I'd be able to say that so soon after getting my feet wet I'd be fully booked!

Lifestyle Sessions

Although I am not currently taking bookings for November and December yet - I wanted to try something different this year with Christmas coming up.  I know everyone loves to send photos in their Christmas cards, and to even have custom photo cards made - so I've decided to do two days of mini sessions.  What's a mini session?

Mini Sessions include:

15-minute mini session with Leslie Brown
15 images in an online gallery
2 Digital Files with printing rights

These sessions will be held on November 1st and November 8th from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm with sessions being booked every half hour and the location to be announced at booking.  Because these sessions are geared for Christmas I thought it was only appropriate to have a little before Christmas sale - if booked before September 31 the mini session will be $200.00 - a savings of $100 off my normal booking fee and $150 off the individual digital files cost.  These are great sessions when you need just a few photos for Christmas Cards, Engagement Notifications, Save the Dates, Wedding Invitations, and Birth Announcements.  Please note that the session will be outside - so please dress accordingly.

If your interested in booking a spot, or getting more information, please email me at info@lesliebrownphotography.ca <mailto:info@lesliebrownphotography.ca>

Wedding Coverage

Seeing how I am just starting to get inquiries coming in for 2010 weddings I'd also like to put a little special on them as well.  If booked for 2010 by November 30th all wedding coverage will include the digital files as a gift from me.  This is a $1500 value - and is normally only available 6 months after your wedding.  I've also got some great incentives for destination weddings so please contact me if you're interested in having a wedding outside of the province!

Well that's it for now - I hope everyone is enjoying the last few weeks of summer we have left - and I look forward to working with you all in the future!

XOXO

I'm so excited to post some images from my Maternity session today!  Not only are Janine and Robbie good friends of ours they are also due any day now!  Janine warned me before the session that she was "HUGE" however I think she looked just amazing - she had a perfect belly to shoot and her and Rob were great sports - putting up with anything we asked them to - even the bugs.  I had a great time hanging out with you two and the dogs - I hope that little baby of your was able to hang off long enough for you to see your teaser!

I don't know how I got so lucky - but I have got to have the cutest clients ever!  It never ceases to amaze me how a child can instantly light up their parent's eyes.  Hudson was no exception - every smile, giggle, and shaky walk was met with huge pride in Jody and Darren's eyes.  Be prepared guys - your going to have his walls plastered with this cutie!

Andrea contacted me a few months ago to do some family photos of her and her gorgeous family.  What a good looking family!  They were so great - with the little guy running around having a great time.  Even when it started raining he was all smiles!  Thanks for coming out with me and braving the rain and we drove from location to location to get away!

This weekend was a great weekend for a lifestyle session - Not too hot, not too sunny, and a great family to share it with.  I met up with Jenny and her husband and daughter to do some maternity photos before her other little bundle of joy arrives in September.  Jenny was a great sport, doing everything we suggested and more!  She just beams - such a beautiful mother to be.

Wow I'm *finally* back from vacation and getting back into the swing of things!  I've got a ton of images to show off from our trip but I just had to get this family session blogged.  I met up with the first of two Staudinger families that I am going to be shooting in the next few weeks.  This was such a great family session - from playing in the park to throwing rocks in the pond we had a great night hanging out.  I hope you enjoy the images - there's lots more where these came from!

Well this might be the most important post I've done to date.  This wedding was so special to me - as it was my brother marrying the most perfect girl for him. They are by far two of the most beautiful people to photograph - Jenn was a stunning bride, and well my brother he was as handsome as ever. I was honored that they asked me to stand for them - and was delighted that they chose Dave and Quin from DQ Studios to photograph the most important day of their lives.  Many of you that read my blog know how special Dave and Quin are to me.  It is because of them that I am following my dream and becoming a photographer.  They have been so amazing to me - more than words can ever describe.  Even on this day they were great - allowing me to be their shadow with my camera and encouraging me the whole day to shoot my heart out.  These are some of the images that I was able to create because of them.

Thumbnail image for LBP_5288-2.jpg
And with that I'll leave you with a bit of my speech to let you know just how important the two of them are to me:

...Since then Jenn's been with our family through a lot.  She travelled with us to Newfoundland to visit our family in both good times and bad, she's moved up to Fort McMurray to give both of them a good head start in their life together, and through all of that she has become my closest friend.  Many of you probably find that surprising as I had a tendency to try to sabotage all of Chris's previous relationships.  None of the others ever felt good enough, they were all either too tall, too small, or as the rumour goes had a lazy eye and a peg for a leg.  But Jenn is different - she encompasses everything that is perfect for my brother - she is beautiful, smart, compassionate, and most of all she loves my brother with every ounce of her heart.  She is someone that I wish my mom had the chance to meet - because I know she would have loved her as much as we do.

My brother will certainly take care of Jenn; his caring nature will undoubtedly show in their relationship. I cannot stress enough how many times this quality has applied in our childhood. He has been my brother and most importantly my friend. I must say Jen is among the luckiest women in the world.

Jenn: Please take care of my brother in the way that I know only you can.

In marriage the "little" things are the big things.
It is never being too old to hold hands.
It is remembering to say, "I love you" at least once a day.
It is never going to sleep angry.
It is having a mutual sense of values, and common objectives.
It is standing together and facing the world.
It is forming a circle that gathers in the whole family.
It is speaking words of appreciation, and demonstrating gratitude in thoughtful ways.
It is having the capacity to forgive and forget.
It is giving each other an atmosphere in which each can grow.
It is a common search for the good and the beautiful.
It is not only marrying the right person -- it is being the right partner.

And the most important of all -  always share your dessert with him - even when you don't want to!

Thank you for coming into our lives and changing us for the better - Today I don't just gain a sister in law - I truly believe I am gaining a sister.

...Christopher:  Know that today mom has been with you every step of the way - and that she is so proud of you.  You were always her baby boy - and today you stand here the man she always knew you would become.  Words cannot express how honored and proud I am to be standing up here as your sister today.   You have been there for me through our darkest times - and it is because of you that we weathered through them.  All of my best childhood memories involve you.  You will never know how important you are to me.

XOXO

I had such a great time yesterday afternoon hanging out with Kori and her beautiful family!  Her little girls are absolutely gorgeous!  While it took a while for little Cassia to come around - she had a great time loosening up on the playground waiting for pictures.  And how cute are their dresses?!

This little guy was a breeze!  He slept pretty much the entire session - no matter what we put him in, how we placed him, or where we went!  I had such a good time hanging out with little Blake and his proud parents - cherish these sleepy days - I hear that they are numbered!
