So I know this post has very little to do with Merlin the dog - but this dog deserves the title post.  When you see his photo you'll understand!  When Carol contacted me for photos I was super excited - but also a little intimidated - there were 2 adults, 3 kids, and 2 1/2 dogs (there I go with Merlin again!)  The results couldn't have been better - and it was so hard to narrow down to these images for the teaser!

XOXO

and last but not least - the inspiration for the title of this post ... Merlin

Yesterday I had such a great time hanging out with Vanessa and Joe.  They are just a month shy of giving birth and wanted to get together to get some shots of her little belly.  And I mean little!  From behind you wouldn't even know that vanessa was pregnant - let alone so far along.  We had decided to meet downtown and when we got to the location we began scouting out potential spots.  We found this great little heap of "stuff" - old oil barrels, grass, dirt, and Vanessa and Joe were awesome enough to trust us that their images would look great - that we could find  beauty in the unexpected!  I cant wait to meet your little one - we're going to get some great images of him/her too! maternity1maternity2maternity3maternity4maternity5maternity6

These might just be my favorite type of session.  They are sessions that truly help to make women love their bodies as much as they should.  Its been a while since I did this Mini-Boudoir Marathon back in October but these images were well worth the wait.  On a cold day we got together a great makeup artist and stylist - Ashley from Hair Trends, another great local photographer Amanda Pepper from Raw Emotion, my second shooter and amazing artist Jennifer Mezei, and 4 AWESOME girls willing to let loose and get some rocking images.  Once my new blog launches there will be tons of information on exactly how these sessions work and reviews on how great they can be!  To launch these sessions I am offering a special - For $1200 you receive your session, an 8x8 custom leather KISS Album, and the digital files that are used to create the album - that is a savings of over $800!  If I get enough interest I will looking into holding another Boudoir Marathon - contact me for more information! We'll here we are - the day we call Christmas Eve.  What a wonderful year 2008 has been.  I have alot to be thankful for - wonderful friends, a beautiful family, and being blessed with finding my true passion - photography.  It is not without all of your kind works and inspiration that this has all happened.  I would like to take this time to wish you and yours a very merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.  I am taking a bit of a break from Christmas day until the end of January to get caught up on some much needed rest and business paperwork.  Stay tuned - I will still be updating the blog with some sessions I have yet to post - and have a lot in store for 2009.  Stay tuned before the end of the year for an amazing contest announcement that could win you or someone dear to you a great gift!  See you all in 2009. Leslie I know I've previously posted this image - but to me it really represents Christmas - so I had to post it again!   c01

When I was in NFLD I got to spend some time with my cousin's new baby.  We only had a few minutes but I'd like to share some of her beautiful photos.  We've had a few rough years in our family - but its nice to be able to do something special for each other once in a while.  That's what family is all about - coming together through the hard times - and being able to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Today is my last session until after the new year.  Don't worry I still have a few sneak peaks under my sleeve!  I had a great time today photographing the Cahill family.  They are longtime friends of ours, Shawn actually sold us our new house, and recently added a new addition - beautiful Brady for big sister Cali.  It was my first time at their beautiful new house and we had a great time breaking in a few new places.  We also found a great trick for dad - Brady just loved the fireplace in their room.  They might end up having a very large gas bill - but the tradeoff of a good night's sleep might just be worth it!

Today was a cold one - but this family sure stood up to the weather!  After having to reschedule this session earlier in the fall they were determined to get some winter photos!  The snow held of just long enough to get some great outside photos - and their beautiful home served for the backdrop of the rest.  These two cuties were so much fun - laughing and playing!  And what beautiful eyes!  Here is  a sneak peak of the session - and tell me you don't get lost in those big blue eyes!

I've been meaning to post a bit about how I got into photography. And altough I really don't have a lot of spare time right now I wanted to get at least 1 post of many to come out before I started everything else. I recently had a friend ask how I got a picture to look like mine on my blog do. To be honest I wouldn't be anywhere close to where i am without the help of two very special people - Dave and Quin from DQ Studios. Not only did they help me fuel my passion for photography they were also generous enough to let me in on a little secret of theirs. The DQ Quikkeys.  Not only has this changed the way that I work in photoshop its allowed me to set higher expectations than I ever imagined this early in my photography career. I highly recommend this to any photographer, seasoned or a newbie like me. Not only are they amazing "inventors" they are also two of the most passionate, caring people you will ever meet. Thank you again guys - without you I'd still be lost.

When I found out I had to go to Newfoundland to see my Nan I really wanted to do a session with my brother and his fiance in the province that my mom and dad grew up in.  For those of you that haven't been to Newfoundland you need to go - its absolutly beautiful there.  It also gave me the oppertunity to get together with another amazing photographer, Charla  who was willing to spend some time with me showing me the ropes. I learnt so much from her and I am so excited to get back to shooting here in Fort McMurray and providing some great images for my clients. And a quick plug to anyone that follows my blog from Newfoundland be sure to check her out - you'll be blown away! Now back to Chris and Jenn. LOL. Because the weather back east is so unpredictable it was hard for us to schedule an outdoor session. We ended up at a beautiful museum (The Rooms) and it was a great chance for me to practice my indoor photography without flash. As you can see they are quickly becoming comfortable in front of the camera - and will have no trouble at their real engagement session next week in Calgary!

Even after a long flight back from Newfoundland (stay tuned for more about this) I was still looking forward to this session with the Nicholson Family.  I had to postpone their session once already but it didnt seem to matter.  We had a great time hanging out in their beautiful house and even more fun outside in the snow!  Reid is a very happy baby and you can tell he is very loved by both of his parents.  Natasha even showed off her composing skills - showing us just how much Reid loves his momma's songs!  I had a great time with you 3 today and I can't wait for you to see the rest of your images!
